General Information About Agios Athanassios Pella
At a distance of 30 kilometers from the city of Edessa and very close to the ski center of Vora is the traditional settlement of Agios Athanassios (or Tsegani).
The village was built in the late 16th century, at the foot of the mountain Voras (or Kaϊmaktsalan), atop Piperitsa in 1,200 m., and was once a farming community, which thrived until the 1970s.
Until 1995 the village was deserted at that point remained there only two families. The rest moved lower in New St. Athanasio.
With the construction of the ski resort in 1995 the old Agios Athanasios has been transformed into a charming tourist village with tiled roof buildings, examples of very interesting traditional Macedonian architecture, combined perfectly with the natural surroundings.
Here you will find everything: traditional hospitality, skiing, trekking, tours, horseback riding, archery and other many and beautiful to enjoy nature and your stay.
